About Me

My photo
I am Luke Goddard, the son of Bruce and Kathy Goddard. My father is in the funeral home business and has published a book, entitled "View From a Hearse: Lighten Up." You can read him at www.viewfromahearse.blogspot.com. With this site, I plan on enjoying my passion one blog at a time. Ever since I was a child, I've been obsessed with the Atlanta Braves. As a kid, I would put on shows for my parents and their friends by impersonating each of the Braves' batting stance with a broom stick. My parents seemed to enjoy it. Plus, it was a way for me to get inside the mind of a Brave and be them for a moment. Now, as I've grown older, I still find myself totally absorbed in the game, especially the Braves ball club. I even find myself at times impersonating their stances with a broom stick as I watch their games. Call me a Braves nut... that's fine. It's an honor. I hope you enjoy the stories you read here. Go Braves.

A Frustrated Glavine

As I mentioned before, I'm on a church softball team. Tonight, my softball team lost. I guess we played decently. We just couldn't close it off. We went into the last inning with the lead and we blew it. Being the home team, we got the chance to bat last. With all the pressure on me, I approached the plate with 2 outs with no men on. I lined a ball over the center field's head and attempted to turn a legit stand-up double into a triple. The center fielder threw to his cut-off man, and the cut-off man gunned me out at third. It was a close, shoe lace tag. He got me though.

I told the player after the game that I was used to this kind of thing. You know, these heartbreakers. After I said this, the guy looked at me puzzled. I quickly made myself clear by saying, "I'm a Braves fan."

I'm sorry. I apologize for that comment.

Well, in case you don't know, the Braves lost their third straight last night. Sadly enough, they couldn't give the run support needed to back up, yet again, another stellar performance by Glavine.

"I'm wondering if I'm ever going to win a game this year," Glavine said after allowing the Nationals two earned runs and six hits in six innings. "Chances are that I will. There are times you just get in stretches like this or ruts. ... Still, sooner or later you want to get rewarded for your efforts. It will come."

Or at least we hope so.
