About Me

My photo
I am Luke Goddard, the son of Bruce and Kathy Goddard. My father is in the funeral home business and has published a book, entitled "View From a Hearse: Lighten Up." You can read him at www.viewfromahearse.blogspot.com. With this site, I plan on enjoying my passion one blog at a time. Ever since I was a child, I've been obsessed with the Atlanta Braves. As a kid, I would put on shows for my parents and their friends by impersonating each of the Braves' batting stance with a broom stick. My parents seemed to enjoy it. Plus, it was a way for me to get inside the mind of a Brave and be them for a moment. Now, as I've grown older, I still find myself totally absorbed in the game, especially the Braves ball club. I even find myself at times impersonating their stances with a broom stick as I watch their games. Call me a Braves nut... that's fine. It's an honor. I hope you enjoy the stories you read here. Go Braves.

Idiot Manager

Bobby Cox has earned the right to get ejected from a ballgame whenever he wants to... in my book, anyways.

When asked in an interview at the World Baseball Classic what it's like to play for Bobby Cox, Braves third baseman, Chipper Jones, responded, "It's an honor. Bobby always has our backs, even if we're in the wrong. He's like a dad to all of us. People don't understand. When he argues a call, half the time it is because he simply wants to protect his player from getting tossed. So many already have told me since I've been here [World Baseball Classic] that they would love to play for Bobby."

After reading this over a year ago, I began to appreciate Bobby Cox even more as a manager. I mean, the man has a pure heart behind his behavior. I even join the hometown crowd by chanting, "Bobby, Bobby, Bobby" when he argues a call. It's like a high. Plus, come on folks, it's Bobby Cox. He can do whatever he wants. Afterall, he's sailing through to Cooperstown.

So if I get pumped when Bobby gets ejected, I know his players must near about come out of their skin.

But when you're playing for a minor league Braves team, and your manager (or should I say "coach" in this guy's case...) acts like this, you have to be just absolutely humiliated.

Surely this guy lost his job...
