Cox Shook It Up in A Different Way...
It is 11:51pm, Thursday night. I just got home from a church softball game. We won 21-3. The game was called after the 4th inning because of the run rule.
As I was on my way home from the game, it was driving me crazy not knowing what happened with the Braves. I hate missing games. Tomorrow's game will not be broadcasted on televsion. My tickets for Saturday's game will go to waste because I've made a wise decision by staying home to work on the research papers that are due by the beginning of next week. I really wanted to see Andruw play at Turner Field again. I hate it.
As soon as I got home, I got in the shower to a) bath and b)wash icy hot off my arm. After drying off and throwing on the pj's, I ran downstairs and typed in the address box: www.mlb.tv to watch the Braves game (re-cap).
This MLB TV package allows you to watch any major league baseball team LIVE and it also allows you to watch a "re-run" of your home team's game in case you had to miss it.
So, here I am... it's now 12:01am on Friday and I just witnessed Chipper hit his second hit of the night- a homerun. Smoltz looks sharp as a tack, as usual. But, don't worry. I've already read all about what happened.
Smoltz fanned 10 batters in five innings of work. Pretty saavy, Smoltz.
Chipper had a 4 hit game, including 2 homers. The last time Chipper had a four hit game was back on August 14, 1996.
Jones' fifth inning homerun was followed by homers by both Braves catcher, Brian McCann, and Braves first basemen, Mark Teixeira. The last time the Braves hit back-to-back-to-back homeruns was on May 28, 2003 when Rafael Furcal, Mark DeRosa, and Gary Sheffield combined to do so against the Reds.
I also discovered that Bobby Cox called a very rare team meeting before the game. Cox has only done this a few times in his managerial career. I would've loved to be a fly on the wall in that locker room. Whatever he said sure worked.
Cox didn't go with my lineup. He shook it up in a different way.
