About Me

My photo
I am Luke Goddard, the son of Bruce and Kathy Goddard. My father is in the funeral home business and has published a book, entitled "View From a Hearse: Lighten Up." You can read him at www.viewfromahearse.blogspot.com. With this site, I plan on enjoying my passion one blog at a time. Ever since I was a child, I've been obsessed with the Atlanta Braves. As a kid, I would put on shows for my parents and their friends by impersonating each of the Braves' batting stance with a broom stick. My parents seemed to enjoy it. Plus, it was a way for me to get inside the mind of a Brave and be them for a moment. Now, as I've grown older, I still find myself totally absorbed in the game, especially the Braves ball club. I even find myself at times impersonating their stances with a broom stick as I watch their games. Call me a Braves nut... that's fine. It's an honor. I hope you enjoy the stories you read here. Go Braves.

May I Vent?

I'm frustrated. I'm one frustrated Braves fan.

I'm going to the game Saturday to see Andruw's return to Turner Field (he actually makes his official return the night before). I was excited about this because I figured Glavine would face him given that Cox would give him an extra day for his strained hamstring. Thus, placing a spot starter to pitch Friday's opener versus the Dodgers, and calling Glavine to pitch the next day, Saturday. It doesn't look that way. It looks like I'll be seeing Buddy Carlyle pitch. I don't even know if I spelled his name right. Nor do I care.

This is not what frustrates me though. It definitely irritates me, but being frustrated and irritated are two different terms in my book.

Let me rephrase this- I'm ticked.

I'm ticked with the Braves organization because it seems that we have NO ONE that can step up and get the job done while the veterans are on and off the DL.

I got news today that our what was to be interim closer while Soriano is hurt, Peter Moylan, was placed on the 15 day DL because of elbow soreness. Great news Braves! Just wonderful. Another dependable and reliable player placed on the DL. Why not?

Folks, once again, the injury bug strikes again.

I'm sorry for being negative. I'll be more positive as soon as our players GET OUT OF THEIR WHEELCHAIRS!

Tonight:
Watch the rising star Jair Jurrjens of the Atlanta Braves face Scott Olsen of the Florida Marlins at 7:10pm on Sports South.

FYI: No batter in the Florida Marlins lineup has faced Jurrjens. For Olsen, he is 1-4(8.54 ERA) in eight meetings with Atlanta.
